“The Obama administration, grappling with a spate of recent Islamic terrorism cases on U.S. soil, has concluded that the country confronts a rising threat from homegrown extremism.
Anti-terrorism officials and experts see signs of accelerated radicalization among American Muslims, driven by a wave of English-language online propaganda and reflected in aspiring fighters’ trips to hot spots such as Pakistan and Somalia.
Europe had been the front line, the target of successive attacks and major plots, while the U.S. remained relatively calm. But the number, variety and scale of recent U.S. cases suggest 2009 has been the most dangerous year domestically since 2001″

Two muslims, Tat Picott (29) of Sacramento, California, and Mr. Carr (24) of Lodi, California, are employed at the Rite of Passage located in San Andreas, California. My concern is that these two muslims are actively trying to convert the disadvantaged youths in the care of Sierra Ridge Academy (Rite of Passage) and have plans to travel to North Africa and/or Malaysia in the near future.
We will never forget…
I personally find it disrespectful for Kareen T so say such bias things about Two men who I know personally. They are upstanding citizens and to discredit someone for informing interested mentally mature individuals of their beliefs and pratices (which they obviously value) is a disservice not only to yourself but to the promotion of acceptance of religious and cultural differences. OPEN YOUR MIND AND STOP PROMOTING HATE. If these two men were Buddhist would you be writting HMS saying all these innocent kids are becoming Buddhist? No You would not. SO PEOPLE WHO ARE OUT THERE FEEDING INTO BS HATEFUL STATEMENTS SUCH AS Kareen’s I Suggest you go out and visit you local mosque and meet some muslims for yourself. They are very diverse, loving group of people who’s only fault is believing the Oness of God.
And knowing someones travel plans doesn’t make them a threat. I want to go to spain and Nigeria, so go report that!
In All thy getting, Get an Understanding
Kareen T,
It saddens and angers me to see the intolerance and ignorance that still exists within people. You have put out information that discredits two very noble and kind individuals; two men who work hard and passionately to better the lives and futures of our youth, youth that has been forgotten because as you put it are “disadvantaged”. Mohandas K. Gandhi once said “It is the duty of every cultured man or woman to read sympathetically the scriptures of the world. If we are to respect others’ religions as we would have them respect our own, a friendly study of the world’s religions is a sacred duty”. During this time of religious misunderstanding it is crucial to increase the dialogue between people (regardless of age) in order to create an understanding and respect for one another. Instead of feeling threatened or concerned because these two men are sharing their beliefs, you should take it as an opportunity to learn and open your own mind in regards to Islam and Muslims. Maybe this will lead to an appreciation and respect to the diversity that exists in our country. Dialogue does not force anyone to convert or change ones ideas; rather it opens a window to understanding, which is desperately needed. Remember it is not a crime to speak of our beliefs and let them be known, in fact, it is our constitutional right. Generalizing and making bias comments, as you have done, merely creates barriers among people and fuels narrow-mindedness (which is a great concern to me, especially if you work with these youth as well).
We need to stop being less paranoid and chauvinistic and more tolerant and open-minded.
